OEM Kia Brake Pads
For you, braking is simple. You press your foot against the brake pedal and your Kia vehicle slows and eventually comes to a stop. However, there are a number of crucial parts, such as your brake pads, involved in your disc brake system.
What Brake Pads Do
When you press against the brake pedal, that causes pistons to push brake fluid from the master brake cylinder to your brake calipers. The fluid pressure causes the calipers to clamp the brake pads against your brake rotors. This generates the friction, or resistance, needed to slow your wheels.
The brake pads cushion that contact between caliper and rotor, preventing metal-on-metal damage. Unfortunately, that means that your brake pads take a lot of abuse. Eventually, they'll wear down from the pressure and heat. That's when they need to be replaced.
How to Spot Bad Brake Pads
Signs of brake pad failure include:
- The brake pedal vibrates or bounces
- There are squealing or squeaking sounds coming from your brakes
- It takes longer to come to stop
- You hear a grinding noise when you brake
- Your brake pedal feels exceptionally soft underfoot
Stay Safe With Genuine OEM Brake Pads
If you do need to replace your brake pads, make sure to do so in pairs (either front or rear) to ensure consistent braking performance. You also want to use the best brake pads for your model. That means you should choose the ones that were made by your manufacturer specifically to be compatible with your vehicle. Our online auto parts store has everything you need for the job.
